Irish christening dress and traditional Irish
Irish are not only beautiful christening gowns, and what about the tradition surrounding the baptism Irish.
Irish tradition, like the others, comes with its own variations. The good thing about the tradition of any form is that it can be tailored to your needs.
Irish symbols
Symbolism on the christening dress is a personal choice. There are many Irish symbols, which can be applied to a dress. From the ancient Celtic spirals to the Claddaugh exquisite. The symbol search and you will find they have hidden depths and meaning, but for now, here are some basic descriptions Celtic symbol.
- Celtic Knots, supposed to protect against evil. The more complex the knot, the better the protection.
- Celtic spirals, believed to be the balance between the inner and outer consciousness.
- Celtic Tree of Life book of wisdom, and also think to transmit messages from the gods.
- Celtic cross, believed to signify the four directions of wind, and the four seasons.
- Shamrock, one of the favorite symbols of Ireland. The symbol of the trinity.
- Claddaugh, the symbol of love and friendship.
The tradition behind the christening dress Irish
The Irish believe that for girls, christening dress must be one of three white dresses she brought to her life. Baptism Dress baptism / communion confirmation dress /, and of course her wedding dress. Everything should be white as it symbolizes purity, joy and new life.
An old Irish custom is to make the christening gown of the mother wedding dress. Use lace or fabric of the veil, or other parts of the gown marriage. This is normally done by the mother.
One of the first-born children of mothers is said to be a part of the wedding dress for her baptism, then when the child marries, a part of the christening dress is sewn up again in the wedding dress!
All of this is the son of tying together the various generations.
This tradition, of course comes with its variations, one of which is that the mother makes the child's christening robe of his own wedding dress, and this is then transmitted through the generations as a family heirloom rather than being modified in the dress dress.
Many Irish christening gowns are hand embroidered with symbols. They could have signs made from old lace Cluney (lace is so delicate and airy, it looks like crochet stitches) or perhaps because of the fine silk and old Irish linen Irish. The beauty the dress is part of Irish tradition that lies behind it.
What to do if you do not dress your own hand through the generations? What if you do not want to cut your wedding dress to a christening dress! Do not worry, there are many places that there are perfect the art of making Irish christening dresses, and then you can start the rebate that through his own family, and make your own tradition.

The Treasury of Celtic Knots $15.98 A step-by-step guide to drawing Celtic knots, the most widely appealing form within the rich repertoire of Celtic design. This comprehensive survey of Celtic knot design is based on the canon of traditional knot patterns collected by the father of the nineteenth-century Celtic Art revival, John Romilly Allen. His work has inspired generations of modern Celtic artists, but until now his definitive collection of knots from authentic sources has only been available in an obscure academic journal. Aidan Meehan’s Treasury is the most complete compendium available on these marvelously decorative and versatile designs. He first presents all the Celtic knots that Romilly Allen discovered, making each pattern intelligible with detailed instructions that show the primary, secondary, and tertiary dot grids, and then finishes the designs that the earlier artist provided. The knots are no longer clipped out of context, with loose ends, but developed into whole new ornaments, shown in two colors and in a variety of treatments. 752 illustrations in 2 colors . |
