French Cross Stitch Sites

I find it hard to make a French knot in my cross stitch is there a easier way to do it?
I always end up doing just a line and not a node. I have been a lot of web sites to see how to do it but I am still unable to make it right.
I fought with it forever! Just in the last year I still progress to it. What I do is keep the needle close to the fabric and wire loop a little loose around the needle twice. Can I insert the needle into the hole by dragging where the wire is wound around it, gently pinch the thread around the needle down on the cloth with my thumb nail, and gently pull the needle and the remaining wire in the wire wound and the hole. The remaining wire on the needle will wire you wrapped around the needle into a knot. Be very careful not not pull too fast or too tight or your knot will slide into the hole. Take a piece of scrap cloth and silk and practice until you are comfortable with it. Hope this helps!

Cross Stitch $19.48 Author Dorothy Wood follows the history of cross stitch throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and then amasses 150 highly original, decorative projects. Beginning with the rich motifs of the Celtic and Medieval eras, the book then moves on to the more formal cross stitch styles reminiscent of Victorian England. In the Folk Art section the simple patterns of the Shakers are juxtaposed with the bright ethnic designs of South America, Eastern Europe and Asia, while the Contemporary section highlights the bold modern motifs of the late twentieth century. |
