Needlework Cross Stitch
Are knitting,cross stitch,crochet and similar needlework forgotten?
I was just wondering how many people are still doing any of them. Especially younger generations.
Personally I love crochet and I am doing it since I was 10,11. It relaxes me and I always have some ready for those people that I realy appreciate and want to give a special present.
I’m a mother,wife,3rd level student,have friends but I always find time to do it(usually when watching TV).
I would say that while some of the needle arts are still in vogue and going strong, some of them are becomming forgotten.
Knitting, Crochet and Cross Stitch are all popluar and in little danger of becomming extinct. There are some other ones though, like making Bobbin Lace, Tatting or just other needle work stitches that fall into this category.
I do embroider…I am self taught and there are some excellent guides put out by companies like DMC and such, that teaches how to make the different stitches. Keep in mind that the Cross Stitch will be in these books because, they are one stitch in the rich library of Embroidery stitches. They are not hard to learn, you just have to take the time to puzzle them out.
I find that embroidery is very relaxing…and as I add to the stitches I know…I find that it is a wonderful creative outlet.
