What is the best website to purchase DMC cross stitch floss in 50-150 skein lots?
Besides EBay, I havent had too much luck trying to order a 50 skein min. lot, new, with a large array of colors, tones and hues. (On Ebay you will pay anywhere from $0.11- $0.88 per skein, depending on size of lot order. In store, I can get them from $0.29-$0.44 per skein. I would like to save a little money if possible.)
I do a lot of embroidery and sell embroidery supplies, so I’m able to buy in large quantities. DMC is very particular about their products. They won’t let just anyone buy large amounts, and even if they do accept you as a retailer, there are certain restrictions about selling. Like, they said I was not allowed to sell more than 100 skeins to one person. (I think it was 100. It might be lower.) Also, they don’t allow international sales, which is a real pain when you sell on the internet and all of your other products are allowed to go international! They just want to keep prices high outside the US.
Furthermore, DMC wholesales in 6 skein boxes. So even if you do find someone with a large lot, you’re going to have trouble getting a variety of colors.
For the best price and variety, I’d say stick with eBay and watch for store sales. You can also ask around or try yardsales. Most people don’t know what to do with leftover or unused floss, so they’ll gladly give it away.
