Is it ideal to have stirrup leathers that match my saddle?

Here is some info. for easier answering:

- I am a hunter jumper
- ride for a half and hour once a week
-I’m currently working on lines and singles. (they are cross poles)

I’m looking at used saddles and found the right saddle. I found a saddle and I’m going to test ride it. When I do i will look at the brand and stuff when I show my instructor it. I know how to measure stirrups. Can someone help me with stirrup leathers? Like should they match my saddle down to the stitching? Color? How should I measure the size? I just need some help so when I ask the clerk at a tack store I don’t end up buying the most expensive ones. I have really long legs. So, what should I look for right away? Any recommendations for types of stirrups? I know it’s a lot, it is confusing to ask. I’ll really appreciate it thanks!!!:)

I say they should definitely match. Mine match, and they look really good with my saddle. You should try to find stirrup leathers without stitching because i had some with stitching and it comes out after a few months. Regular adult size stirrups will fit you fine I’m sure because I’m 5’7 and my adult size stirrups are only on the second to the top hole for jumping. I’ve been riding over half of my life, and I have a ton of experience. I hope I help! Good luck in your riding! I know I love jumping!

Dr. R.C. Sproul surveys the great work accomplished by Jesus Christ through His crucifixion the redemption of God s people. Dr. Sproul considers the atonement from numerous angles and shows conclusively that the cross was absolutely necessary if anyone was to be saved. Opening the Scriptures, Dr. Sproul shows that God Himself provided salvation by sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross, and the cross was always God s intended method by which to bring salvation. The Truth of the Cross is an uncompromising reminder that the atonement of Christ is an absolutely essential doctrine of the Christian faith, one that should be studied and understood by all believers.

History of the Cross

History of the Cross

$10.98

As many have suspected, there is much more to the true, authentic history of the Christian religion than what we had originally been told. Some claims regarding the Church’s history are accurate, some are not. The most extreme claims against the religion come from the atheist camp and often remain unproved. But this book is completely different. It comes from a devout Christian, Henry Dana Ward, a believer in Christ who backs himself up with scholarly research and facts. Why, then, was this book written if it goes against traditional beliefs and acceptance? It is because the traditional beliefs surrounding the cross and its worship are wrong! It took time for us to eventually accept the cross in its current form and to worship it and, according to Ward, this was a pagan symbol that should never have been adopted. Idols were not to be worshipped by the earliest of Christians, and the cross was no exception to this rule. Not worshipping the cross is consistent with early Christianity and is not heretical. Its lack of worship is part of Christianity’s foundational beliefs and its exclusion should be part of the religion’s current structure, according to Ward. Revering the cross is based on lies, deception, and ignorance. Ward shows how the lies began, who spread them, and how and why they did it.

Men and women of all ages will warm to Cramer’s elegant prose and Southern charm. William Faulkner once insisted that great stories must capture the "old universal truths…love and honor and pity and pride and compassion and sacrifice." Sutter’s Cross delivers the truth in grand style. Sutter’s Cross is a resort town in the southern Appalachians, where people live in comfortable homes, have comfortable portfolios, and wear comfortable clothes. They expect their lives, their weather, even their God, to be cooperative and predictable–until a stranger calling himself "Harley" shows up in the buffet line at the church’s annual spring picnic looking like a wreck and wearing stolen jeans. Can God use an outcast to change a town?

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

$4.48

Since the 1970s, American society has provided especially fertile ground for the growth of the Christian right and its influence on both political and cultural discourse. In Stations of the Cross political theorist Paul Apostolidis shows how a critical component of this movement’s popular cultureâ??evangelical conservative radioâ??interacts with the current U.S. political economy. By examining in particular James Dobson’s enormously influential program, Focus on the Familyâ??its messages, politics, and effectsâ??Apostolidis reveals the complex nature of contemporary conservative religious culture.Public ideology and institutional tendencies clash, the author argues, in the restructuring of the welfare state, the financing of the electoral system, and the backlash against women and minorities. These frictions are nowhere more apparent than on Christian right radio. Reinvigorating the intellectual tradition of the Frankfurt School, Apostolidis shows how ideas derived from early critical theoryâ??in particular that of Theodor W. Adornoâ??can illuminate the political and social dynamics of this aspect of contemporary American culture. He uses and reworks Adorno’s theories to interpret the nationally broadcast Focus on the Family, revealing how the cultural discourse of the Christian right resonates with recent structural transformations in the American political economy. Apostolidis shows that the antidote to the Christian right’s marriage of religious and market fundamentalism lies not in a reinvocation of liberal fundamentals, but rather depends on a patient cultivation of the affinities between religion’s utopian impulses and radical, democratic challenges to the present political-economic order. Mixing critical theory with detailed analysis, Stations of the Cross provides a needed contribution to sociopolitical studies of mass movements and will attract readers in sociology, political science, philosophy, and history.

Twisted Cross

Twisted Cross

$27.48

How did Germany’s Christians respond to Nazism? In Twisted Cross, Doris Bergen addresses one important element of this response by focusing on the 600,000 self-described ‘German Christians,’ who sought to expunge all Jewish elements from the Christian church. In a process that became more daring as Nazi plans for genocide unfolded, this group of Protestant lay people and clergy rejected the Old Testament, ousted people defined as non-Aryans from their congregations, denied the Jewish ancestry of Jesus, and removed Hebrew words like ‘Hallelujah’ from hymns.Bergen refutes the notion that the German Christians were a marginal group and demonstrates that members occupied key positions within the Protestant church even after their agenda was rejected by the Nazi leadership. Extending her analysis into the postwar period, Bergen shows how the German Christians were relatively easily reincorporated into mainstream church life after 1945. Throughout Twisted Cross, Bergen reveals the important role played by women and by the ideology of spiritual motherhood amid the German Christians’ glorification of a ‘manly’ church.

The Court and the Cross

The Court and the Cross

$19.48

An investigation into the Religious Right, judicial nominees, and future decisions on evolution, prayer in schools, abortion, and moreBlending the effective use of grassroots campaigns, aggressive lobbying, and a well-tended career path for conservative law students and attorneys, the Religious Right has already succeeded in influencing major court decisions on a range of critical social issues. The courts have chipped away at laws banning prayer in school; bolstered restrictions on women’s access to abortion and birth control; and given legal approval to President Bush’s use of federal funds for religious organizations. In the near future, the courts will surely decide on a host of hot-button issues, from stem cell research and gay rights to religious expression on government property and euthanasia. In The Court and the Cross, legal journalist Frederick Lane uses a mix of legal history and political analysis to expose, in layman’s terms, the Religious Right’s high court offensive. He clearly explains the Supreme Court’s nomination process and shows how the Religious Right’s leadership, including Pat Robertson and the late Jerry Falwell, created the vision that led to the movement’s massive growth and its powerful influence on the nation’s judiciary. This timely book details the Right’s unrelenting efforts to destroy the wall separating church and state and, ultimately, to do nothing less than declare the United States a Christian nation."The Court and the Cross is a commendable and sobering account of the scope and significance of the Christian Right’s incessant efforts to make a mockery of core constitutional principle. Not only does it elegantly review key Supreme Court cases about religion, but points to the extensive range of social issues the Right is working to get up for examination before our highest court, an increasingly conservative body. If you are not sure that the decisions of the Supreme Court "matter much" to you in your daily life, read The Court and the Cross and I guarantee you’ll be rethinking that position. The Court’s erosion of your individual religious freedom and the dictates of your conscience has already begun."â??Rev. Barry Lynn, author of Piety & Politics and Executive Director of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State

The Cross From A Distance

The Cross From A Distance

$17.48

"They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha. . . . And they crucified him. . . . Some women were watching from a distance." (Mark 15:22, 24, 40).At the climax of Mark’s Gospel, Jesus of Nazareth is put to death on a Roman cross. The text tells us that, in that lonely hour, a group of women were watching the crucifixion "from a distance." In a sense, they are given a stance toward the cross that we can share. In this exploration of Mark’s Gospel, Peter G. Bolt looks at why the cross is so prominent in the narrative, asks what contribution Mark’s teaching can make to our understanding of the atonement, and shows how this teaching can inform, correct and enrich our own preaching of the gospel in the contemporary world. He helps us to stand in wonder before the God who has come close to us in the cross of Jesus Christ and to live in hope for the better things to come.

Above all, it is a book about people and personalities—here skinheads, circus freaks, Buddhist monks, tattoo fetishists, and slightly more ordinary individuals all reveal their obsessions with and dedication to the ritual of ink and pain. Wonder Shows

Wonder Shows

$26.98

"This is a fascinating and important study of popular science in America after the mid-nineteenth century, filled with memorable characters and the amazing demonstrations of their wonders."—James B. Gilbert, author of Redeeming Culture: American Religion in an Age of Science "A timely and illuminating exploration of American science and pseudo-science as embodied in `wonder shows.’ Fred Nadis impressively connects these colorful performances to contemporary debates about the power and prestige of traditional science amid recent challenges to science’s intellectual and moral authority. A terrific book!"—Howard Segal, Bird Professor of History, University of Maine"This is a fascinating examination of the boundaries between science, religion, and magic."—Robert W. Rydell, author of All the World’s a Fair: Visions of Empire at American International Expositions, 1876-1916 Imagine a stage full of black cats emitting electrical sparks, a man catching bullets with his teeth, or an evangelist jumping on a transformer to shoot bolts of lightning through his fingertips. These and other wild schemes were part of the repertoire of showmen who traveled from city to city, making presentations that blended science with myth and magic. In Wonder Shows, Fred Nadis offers a colorful history of these traveling magicians, inventors, popular science lecturers, and other presenters of "miracle science" who revealed science and technology to the public in awe-inspiring fashion. The book provides an innovative synthesis of the history of performance with a wider study of culture, science, and religion from the antebellum period to the present. It features a lively cast of characters, including electrical "wizards" Nikola Tesla and Thomas Alva Edison, vaudeville performers such as Harry Houdini, mind readers, UFO cultists, and practitioners of New Age science. All of these performers developed strategies for invoking cultural authority to back their visions of science and progress. The pseudo-science in their wonder shows helped promote a romantic worldview that called into question the absolute authority of scientific materialism while reaffirming the importance of human spirituality. Nadis argues that the sensation that these entertainers provided became an antidote to the alienation and dehumanization that accompanied the rise of modern America. Although most recent defenders of science are prone to reject wonder, considering it an ally of ignorance and superstition, Wonder Shows demonstrates that the public’s passion for magic and meaning is still very much alive. Today, sales continue to be made and allegiances won based on illusions that products are unique, singular, and at best, miraculous. Nadis establishes that contemporary showmen, corporate publicists, advertisers, and popular science lecturers are not that unlike the magicians and mesmerists of years ago.

Friar Bruno’s study is a model of impartiality, and shows the author’s filial piety combined, in the easiest and most natural fashion, with a perfect scientific serenity. The author has been able to throw light on some of the disputed points previously presented badly due to insufficient study. Much of the material used was found in the archives of the Carmelite Order.
