Cross Stitch Loop

cross stitch loop
which is better? using a waste knot or loop knot in starting to cross stitch?

I don’t use a knot at all, but instead I hold the loose end of thread behind the new stitches, so that when I make the first few stitches they hold the end in place. This way, the bars that are formed on the back-side when you make a cross on the front-side go over the starting thread and hold it there.

Knots can work, too, but if you use one you have to be careful that it’s a big enough knot to not get pulled through the cross-stitch fabric, yet a small enough knot that it doesn’t make a bulge in the finished design.

The pleasure in ach…
